Join Friends of the Riverfront for 2026’s third Train on the Trail session!
Train on the Trail is an enrichment series presented by Friends of the Riverfront intended to provide skills and knowledge for volunteers and trail users to apply along the Three Rivers Heritage and Water Trail systems.
Join Friends of the Riverfront for 2026’s third Train on the Trail session! American Canoe Association certified Instructor, Jamie Cortese, will lead an introductory level overview of kayak and canoe basics, foundational non-motorized safety, and general approaches to launching and paddling our Three Rivers! This event is meant to familiarize participants with kayaking on our rivers. Participants with their own kayak or canoes are encouraged to bring them; Friends will provide seats in one of our kayak, tandem kayak, or canoes for those that do not have their own! There will be both land and water components; registration will be limited.
The 2026 Train on the Trail series will offer enrichment opportunities for volunteers and trail users to gain introductory knowledge and skills that will benefit their trail experience, including native and invasive plants, watercraft safety, tree identification, and more. For 35 years Friends of the Riverfront has developed, stewarded, and promoted the 35-mile Three Rivers Heritage Trail and 34 river access points of the Three Rivers Water Trail.
