A Daughter's Promise: Author Talk and Discussion with JoAnne Harrop

Wednesday, April 22, 2026 (7:00 PM - 8:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

Local reporter and first-time author JoAnne Harrop will join us for an inspiring and deeply personal conversation about her memoir A Daughter’s Promise on Wednesday, April 22 from 7–8:30 PM at Sewickley Public Library.

In the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, as Pennsylvania nursing homes prepared to close their doors to visitors, Harrop made a life-changing decision: she moved into her 93-year-old mother’s nursing home room for three months. Sleeping on a cot beside her mother and sharing in daily routines, the two spent precious time together talking, laughing, and facing an uncertain future.

During the program, Harrop will reflect on her career in journalism, the emotional journey that shaped her book, and the powerful mother-daughter bond at the heart of her story. Both heartwarming and heartbreaking, A Daughter’s Promise offers a moving look at love, sacrifice, and family in a time of crisis.
